Briefing
A synagogue in the Ashar area of Basra, built by the Tweig family in the twentieth century. Located in Basra, it is preserved here as part of Iraq’s Jewish heritage. It formed part of the religious and communal life of Iraqi Jewry. Surviving photographs, architectural evidence and historical references help preserve the memory of the site and its community.
